ASTM D877 Insulating Oil Dielectric Strength Tester 80kV / 100kV Support Custom Detection
Not every boosting device dares to label "empty 1cm gap protection". Many old-fashioned testers burn out the high-voltage package during "no-load verification", and the problem lies in the inability to release arc energy.
We have made two changes to the product to address this issue:
The software will actively limit the output when it detects an abnormal voltage climb without oil;
The hardware circuit is connected in series with a 30 Ω/20W green power resistor to suppress the short-circuit current.
Why do other people's tests fail? What have we changed?
The breakdown voltage value is very small, but the output unit is normal under no-load → poor contact between the electrode and the test cup.
Many engineers only use sandpaper to polish without changing the electrodes. What about the result? The contact surface is uneven, the local field strength is distorted, and the oil breaks down before it ages.
We have made three substantial changes:
Standard configuration includes three pairs of electrodes: mushroom shaped, flat plate shaped, and ball shaped;
The bottom of the test cup is fixed with a PT100 temperature sensor to monitor the oil temperature in real time, as the breakdown voltage of the oil has a steep temperature curve;
The software allows you to choose 5 boost rates of 0.5/2/3/5 kV/s, and different standards require different rates. For example, ASTM D1816 requires 0.5kV/s, and if you choose the wrong standard, the test will be invalid.

Application scenarios
Regular inspection of transformer oil in substations
Select IEC60156 mode, boost speed of 2kV/s, automatic completion of 6 tests, automatic calculation of mean and standard deviation. You can tell if the oil can still be used by looking at the average value.
Acceptance of new oil upon arrival at the factory
Select ASTM D877 mode, boost speed 3kV/s, 5 tests. Compare the standard values and reject any non-conforming products directly.
Oil quality tracking during operation
Using custom mode, set up 3 tests, stirring for 60 seconds each time and standing for 60 seconds. Measure once a month, draw a trend chart, and have a clear idea of when to change the oil.
Equipment Voltage Endurance Verification
Set a voltage value and a holding time. If the oil sample does not break down within this holding time, it means it can withstand this voltage.
